Directions On How To Begin A Visual Analysis Essay

A visual analysis paper is usually a very good way of writing history. There are a lot of students in the past who have been able to have an easier way of working on this paper. In most cases, students who struggle to write a visual analysis essay do not struggle because they do not know what to do, but because they do not have someone to guide them through the process.

You are in a good position because you will not only have someone to help you, but you will also have a lot of information that you can use for reference purposes. This is the one thing that will be the difference between you passing or failing this paper.

The following are some directions on how you can start working on this particular paper. These are things that you have to look into and you will definitely get your work done faster:

  • The artist’s perspective
  • Consider the audience
  • Discuss the composition of the image

The artist’s perspective

When you are looking at the image that you are about to describe, you must first of all consider the purpose that the artiste had in mind. You may not necessarily know what they wanted to convey, but from your experience you should be able to come up with something.

In most cases this kind of paper is more about your opinions than anything else, so try and be as objective as possible.

Consider the audience

Think about the message that you suppose the audience was to get from the visuals that you are looking at. Having done that, ask yourself whether the message was passed across effectively, or if the message was skewed in the process.

Having interacted with some of the audience, what in your opinion do you think is their reaction or the message that they have received?

Discuss the composition of the image

The composition of the image should also be something that you look forward to. This makes it easier for you to address the paper from a contextual point of view. Look at the background, the time of the day, the timeline within which the image was produced and so forth.

Most of such papers often have a deeper meaning to them than what we might be looking at on face value. These are some of the most important things that you should think about.
